Thanks to Cousin Katy in Tennesee, I was able to confirm that on
page cxlix of the Directory of Ancestral Heads of New England Families
1620-1700 compiled by Frank R. Holmes (Baltimore: Genealogical
Publishing Co., 1923) it states that "John Libby was born in England around 1602.
He came to New England from Broadstairs in the Isle of Thanet, County
Kent between 1630 and 1635. He went to Maine and was granted land in
Scarborough before 1640."
